Open Gym at Kracht Amsterdam

Train Independently. Respect the Space. Stay Connected.

At Kracht, we believe strength is built through structure, intention, and shared responsibility. That belief is exactly why we’re introducing Open Gym — a new pilot offering that gives members the freedom to train independently, while staying aligned with the values that make Kracht what it is.

From January through March 2026, we’ll be running Open Gym as a pilot. At the end of this period, we’ll evaluate the experience together and decide whether Open Gym becomes a permanent part of our schedule.

What is Open Gym?

During Open Gym, members can train independently in the Kracht gym. This might mean:

  • Preparing for a competition

  • Following a personalized program designed by one of our coaches

  • Working on specific weaknesses outside of regular classes

  • Doing recovery or mobility work

  • Performing rehabilitation exercises after an injury

Open Gym is not a coached class, but it does take place in our shared training environment — alongside group classes, personal training, and physio sessions.

How Open Gym works

  • Registration is required via the Open Gym schedule in the SportBit app

  • Availability varies

    • More slots during off-peak hours

    • Limited or no availability during peak hours

  • Please train only within the time slot you registered for

This helps us keep the gym safe, structured, and enjoyable for everyone.

Shared space = shared responsibility

Open Gym takes place in a shared training environment. This means:

  • Group classes, personal training, and physio sessions always have priority when it comes to space and equipment

  • The only guaranteed equipment during Open Gym is:

    • One squat rack with weights

    • A pull-up bar

  • All other equipment is available only if space allows

Flexibility is part of Open Gym — so is awareness of others.

Open Gym rules (read before you train)

To keep Open Gym working for everyone, we ask all members to follow these guidelines:

1. Headphones & music

  • During peak hours, wearing headphones is not allowedCoaches must always be able to communicate with everyone in the space.

  • During off-peak hours, headphones are allowed only if:

    • You are not in anyone’s way

    • The gym is calm and uncrowded

    • You cannot connect to the speaker and want to listen to your own music

Kracht is a community gym — Open Gym should never disconnect you from the space around you.

2. Clean up after yourself

Every piece of equipment you use must be cleaned and returned before you leave.

Our coaches are not gym cleaners.Open Gym means taking full responsibility for your own training station.

3. Respect the shared environment

  • Be aware of classes and sessions around you

  • Adjust your workout if space becomes limited

  • Train with intention, not entitlement

This is what keeps Open Gym enjoyable — and possible.

Open Gym & your membership

  • For members who train independently more often, we also offer an Open Gym supplement

    • Unlimited Open Gym access

    • No class credits used

Why Open Gym fits Kracht

Open Gym isn’t about doing “whatever you want.”It’s about training with ownership, respecting the people around you, and understanding that freedom only works when everyone carries responsibility.

That’s how we train now. That’s how we want to train when we’re still kicking ass in our 90s.

Thank you for helping keep Kracht a safe, respectful, and enjoyable place to train — together.

FAQ – Open Gym at Kracht

Can I train with a friend or bring a drop-in?

Yes, as long as:

  • The spot is reserved in the SportBit Open Gym schedule

  • A drop-in fee is paid

  • Space allows during that time slot

Drop-ins and friends follow the same Open Gym rules as members.

Can I follow a personalized program during Open Gym?

Absolutely. If you’d like a structured program tailored to your goals (competition prep, strength focus, return-to-training), you can book a personal training session with one of our coaches. They’ll help design your program and give you clear guidance or “homework” to follow during Open Gym.

What if I want to work on specific weaknesses, recovery, or mobility?

Open Gym is ideal for this. You can:

  • Book a 1-on-1 session with a coach to identify focus points

  • Receive specific exercises or drills to practice independently during Open Gym

This keeps your training intentional, not random.

Can I do rehabilitation exercises during Open Gym?

Yes. If you’re rehabbing an injury, we strongly recommend working with our in-house physiotherapy partner, Movement Based Therapy. They can assess you properly and provide exercises you can safely continue during Open Gym.
